First the official definition of camphor - 'Camphor is a waxy, white or transparent solid with a strong, aromatic odor.' What you can easily find out about camphor is how it's a great anti-microbial agent and therefore used in tooth powders to fight decay and hair and skin products to get rid of dandruff and spots, respectively. Some of you may not know that it has been used for hundreds of years in prayer rituals across India apart from being used in many herbal remedies. However, Google the reasons why camphor is used for religious ceremonies and you'll hardly find a consistent and plausible answer.
There's one that caught my eye on Wikipedia which says "As a natural pitch substance, camphor burns cool without leaving an ash residue, which symbolizes consciousness." That's something to mull over. What I do know for sure though, is that as in most cases, a lot of religious ceremony rituals seem to have a deeper meaning than just thoughtless putting together of tedious activities. I am sure there is a good reason why camphor is so widely used for so many ceremonies, as well!
Occasions and ceremonies aside, camphor has been a great tool for us for enlivening the environment at home, on a daily basis. It works as well, or sometimes even better, than burning incense and is a hell lot more convenient than cleaning up the ashes left behind by incense sticks.
This is how we normally do it. We buy a pack of camphor tablets and plug them into the 'Good Knight' or any other mosquito repellent mini machine that looks like this :

One of these can hold about six camphor tablets. Plug it in and you're good to go!

We do it almost every evening after coming back home and opening up the windows. It makes the environment much lighter, infinitely positive and the fragrance is fresh and unique!
Remember, negative energy can affect you on a subtle level and manifest itself in aches or pains which are physical but also in emotional outbursts and other things depending on how vulnerable/sensitive the person affected is. There are many ways for it to be driven out of your home. We spoke about the lemon for personal use. A ghee lamp is another sure shot way to rid your home of unhappy energy. But, by far camphor is my favorite!!
try a camphor lamp with camphor chunks above and a tea light below..! but not sure if ur fire alarm will like it so much :P

I've tried that once with a lamp that was meant to be an aroma oil diffuser and ended up having melted camphor tablets!
ReplyDeleteBut I know that the right size ones can probably be great...even better is a brass one with a ghee lamp underneath!
Clears all 'unhappy' energy from the house!
I cant find these good knight things being sold nemore :(
ReplyDeleteCheck bhavani medical store! Ask for the old model of good knight with tablets! Good luck:)
